Webinar

Background information

Fossil fuels together meet around 80% of global energy demand today – a share that has fallen only slightly over the past decade. Against a backdrop of escalating risks in the Middle East and heightened geopolitical tensions globally, this session will explore the challenges and uncertainties faced by oil, natural gas, and coal markets. It will also explore the prospects for low-emission fuels, such as hydrogen, biofuels and biogases. Key findings from the IEA’s World Energy Outlook (WEO) 2024 will be presented, shedding light on the evolving role of traditional fuels in energy transitions.
