The State and Prospects of Fusion Energy Workshop

On 26 February 2025 the IEA hosted a workshop on ‘The State and Prospects of Fusion Energy’. The event brought together representatives from government, academia, and industry, with the aim to foster dialogue on the transformative potential of fusion energy and its role in addressing global energy challenges.

This discussion provided an opportunity to delve into the latest breakthroughs in fusion energy and discuss the technical challenges that must be addressed to accelerate fusion energy development and deployment. It will also focus on identifying priority actions for governments and industry to overcome these barriers. Insights were shared by expert speakers from diverse perspectives, including leading researchers, industry leaders pioneering commercial applications, and policy experts highlighting the role of governments in fostering innovation and infrastructure development.
