Background Information

The International Energy Agency’s World Energy Outlook (WEO) provides critical analysis and insights on the evolution of the energy system, and the key milestones to reach international climate and sustainable development goals. As part of this effort to track global progress on clean energy transitions, the Agency launched a Sustainable Recovery Tracker which monitors the clean energy policies featuring in governments Covid-19 related ’recovery plans, evaluates the total public and private investments these mobilise, as well as their impact on global CO2 emissions trends and global clean energy employment. This event will showcase the latest findings from the WEO scenarios in the 2021 edition, as well as the Autumn update of the Sustainable Recovery Tracker, highlighting the key choices, consequences and contingencies that lie ahead in the path of a Paris Agreement-compatible sustainable recovery.
