The IEA has discontinued providing data in the Beyond 2020 format (IVT files and through WDS). Data is now available through the .Stat Data Explorer, which also allows users to export data in Excel and CSV formats.

Electric highway demonstration project (E16)

Demonstration project: The world’s first fossil fuel-free electric road for heavy goods vehicles has been built near Gävle, Sweden. It is situated on the E16. Poles are placed at 60-metre intervals to support electrical contact lines above the inside laneThe road can be used by heavy goods vehicles with pantographs on the roof which power the vehicles through contact with the overhead wires. It is planned that the whole 100-kilometre section of the E16 between the port of Gävle and Borlänge will be electrified. Some technical issues were encountered. The project has been extended to 2020.
