GreenChill Advanced Refrigeration Partnership
The GreenChill Advanced Refrigeration Partnership is an EPA cooperative alliance with the supermarket industry and other stakeholders to promote the adoption of technologies, strategies, and practices that reduce emissions of ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and greenhouse gases (GHGs) and increase refrigeration system energy efficiency. Working with EPA, GreenChill Partners: transition to non-ozone depleting refrigerants; lower refrigerant charge sizes and eliminate leaks; and adopt green refrigeration technologies, strategies and practices.
GreenChill promotes food retailers/supermarkets adoption of advanced refrigeration technologies that will reduce ODS/GHG emissions (e.g., reduced refrigerant charges and leak rates), improve energy efficiency; while at the same time reducing maintenance and refrigerant costs, extending the shelf life of perishable food products, and offering improved system design, operations, and maintenance. The GreenChill Partnership has three main programmes that help food retailers reduce their refrigerant emissions: 1) the Food Retailer Corporate Emissions Reduction Program, 2) the Store Certification Program for Advanced Refrigeration, and 3) the Advanced Refrigeration Promotion Program.
