The IEA has discontinued providing data in the Beyond 2020 format (IVT files and through WDS). Data is now available through the .Stat Data Explorer, which also allows users to export data in Excel and CSV formats.

Law Authorising Autoproducers (Ley que Autoriza la Generación eléctrica autónoma o paralela)

The Law regulates utility-scale private sector projects in Costa Rica. It states that utility-scale renewable energy projects can opt for one of the following three types of contracts:

  • Direct contracts for projects under 20 MW;
  • Auctions for projects up to 50 MW;
  • Legislative approval for projects greater than 50 MW.
