Source: International Energy AgencyLast updated: 24 August 2021
The Biomass Research and Development Initiative offers grants to eligible entities to carry out research, development, and demonstrations on cost-effective ways to produce ethanol and other fuels and chemicals from biomass resources such as agricultural and forestry residues or fast-growing trees and grasses. The program has awarded research, development, and demonstration projects on biobased products, bioenergy, biofuels, biopower, and related processes. Eligible recipients may receive up to USD1 million for projects that involve feedstock production for biobased fuels and products, converting cellulosic biomass into biobased fuels, technologies for co-producing biobased products in biofuel production facilities and strategic guidance for improving overall sustainability and environmental quality of biomass technologies.
