Eastablished in 199, the Market Incentive Programme (MAP) provides funding, in the form of investment or repayment grants to supplement low-interest loans, towards investments in renewable heating and cooling installations, including solar thermal, heat pumps, geothermal and biomass installations. The MAP receives over EUR 320 million in funding annually, mostly focused on existing buildings. For smaller installations, such as households, the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) offers investment grants. For larger facilities, as well as for heat networks and storage, KfW offers low-interest loans and repayment grants.
