Last updated: 12 June 2024

On December 25, 2008, Vietnam and Japan established the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA), encompassing trade in goods, services, investment, business environment enhancement, and the movement of people.

Preferential tariffs are applicable to affected energy sector including ores and concentrates, such as iron, copper, nickel, cobalt, aluminium, lead, zinc, tin, chromium, and other materials related to low carbon technologies.

Goods are considered originating in VJEPA if they are entirely obtained or produced in a member country or meet specific criteria, such as a minimum regional value content of 40% or a change in tariff classification.
