Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards for Model Years 2024-2026 Passenger Cars and Light Trucks

Last updated: 18 March 2024

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), on behalf of the Department of Transportation, amended the standards regulating corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) for passenger cars and light trucks for model years 2024–2026.

The new standards increased in stringency and aimed to increase fuel efficiency by 8% annually for model years 2024-2025 and 10% annually for model year 2026.

This update is an amendment of the The Safer Affordable Fuel Efficient (SAFE) Vehicles Rule for Model Years 2021–2026 Passenger Cars and Light Trucks regulation.
