Import Policies and Conditions

Last updated: 10 June 2024

In 2023 and 2024, the Indonesian government updated its Import Policies and Regulations.

This policy sets administrative requirements for importers, such as business legality, taxpayer status, and import permits. As known, Indonesia imports various supplies such as oil and other materials. This regulation aims to facilitate the import process from selling countries to Indonesia.

The following new exemptions apply to import prohibitions, notably:

  • non hazardous or toxic metal scraps
  • goods imported into a Special Economic Zone
  • used non-lithium batteries

Import licensing applies. For steel and iron products, import permits are notably valid for a year.
